What is Minnesota Responds?

Minnesota Responds is a partnership that integrates and engages local, regional, and statewide volunteer programs to strengthen public health and health care, reduce vulnerability, build resilience, and improve preparedness, response and recovery capabilities.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to protect the health of Minnesota as a Medical Reserve Corps/MN Responds volunteer!  You have an important role in assisting us in monitoring and preparing to respond to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).  We want to take this opportunity to provide important information and ask for your help.

You are our public health emergency response champions and we need you to know and share COVID-19 facts.

  • As of March 17, 2020, sixty COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Minnesota. We continue to monitor this outbreak and post updated Minnesota specific information here.
  • Help reduce fears by sharing CDC COVID-19and COVID-19 posts from the MDH social media sites.
  • Encourage everyone to take basic precautions to include washing your hands, avoid touching your face, staying home when sick and covering your cough.

During our 2009-2010 H1N1 pandemic response efforts, many volunteers provided support to the Minnesota Department of Health and local public health.  We need you to be ready to respond by doing the following:

  • Become a qualified volunteer. You may request membership in your local public health agency or the MDH COVID-19 Volunteer Unit. Existing volunteers are welcome to complete a refresher orientation as well. Update your profile and licensing information in Minnesota Responds.
  • Join COVID-19 response teams by responding to activation alerts to support outbreak investigations, public information, and logistical activities.

Help us find more volunteers!  We have a robust corps of deployable volunteers, but will need more to support a potential extended COVID-19 response effort.  If you know of anyone interested in volunteering, please direct them to our website to learn more and to register.

Your passion for protecting the public health of our communities and willingness to assist the Minnesota Department of Health and your local public health agency, is crucial to the success of our preparedness and response efforts.
